However, by the way of decision making algorithms, CyberChess allows to play some great chess games. In September 1977, Dorothy Mikun filled a federal trademark registration for the CYBERCHESS. WM. F. DRUEKE AND SONS, INC was created in 1914. It is one of the oldest manufacturers of Chess Sets. The company was founded by William F. Drueke at Grand rapids (Michigan). In 1987, they ceased their activities and were sold to Low Tech Company which kept the Drueke name as a brand. In 1990, the Carrom Company bought them and moved the manufacture to Ludington (Michigan). The Carrom Company is still in activity and use the Drueke brand name for their board games.

NICEVENT was located in Moscow and manufactured the Strategist Chess Computer which participated to the First USSR Chess Computer Championship. INTELLECT was the first chess computer Brand Name. Appearing at the First Soviet Computer Championship in 1988, the Intellect-01, programmed by Y. Kubinov, took the sixth and last place of the Tournament. After the competition, the Soviet Computer Chess Federation was founded. Under the brand name ELECTRONIKA, many different Soviet manufactures produced a variety of electronic products as computer systems, calculators, watches, tape recorders, video recorders, portable games, and radios. These products were exported and distributed under various names. Some of them were full copies of foreign technology. FIDELITY ELECTRONICS LD. INC was an American company, founded in 1959, bought in March 1970 by Sidney and Myron Samole. From 1976, Fidelity Electronics developed and manufactured dedicated chess computers. On February 21, 1984, FIDELITY ELECTRONICS LD. INC filed its petition for relief under Chapter 7 of Bankruptcy Code and transferred its ownership to FIDELITY COMPUTER PRODUCTS INC. becoming later FIDELITY INTERNATIONAL,INC. Their computers won the first four World Microcomputer Chess Championships: London 1980 (Chess Challenger ), Travemünde 1981 (Fidelity X), Budapest 1983 (Elite A/S), and Glasgow 1984 (Elite). They won 4 consecutive years the United States Open Computer Chess Championships (Mobile, Alabama) in 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988. Sold in 1989 to Hegener & Glaser. Installed at the angle of rue Baron and rue Roberval - maybe the origin of the Double R name of the Company (Roberval + Ries). Put on the market the first French Chess Computer "La Regence". Was founded in 1981 by David Levy and Kevin O’Connell and was the continuity of their company "Philidor Software" founded in 1979. JS&A GROUP INC. was funded by Joe Sugarman. The company was doing excellent marketing of innovative products, selling by mail and advertising excellently. in 1978, They distributed the MK1 of Novag. To attract the attention of the public, Sugarnman defied Karpov to win against the MK1. On the same vein, Peter Auge of Novag

NOVAG INDUSTRIES LTD. is a designer and manufacturer of dedicated chess computers founded on September 3 1976 by Peter Auge and Eric Winkler, located in Hong Kong. In 1978, Novag and SciSys started common operations to produce chess computers and notably the MK I. The program was a clone of the ROM of the Data Cash Systems Inc. CompuChess. This results in a lawsuit that JS&S won for a copyright not well documented... A lot of difficulties were emerging between Auge and Winkler and resulted in their separation. In 2009, Novag was sold to a company called Solar Wide Industrial Ltd, . This company continued continued to manufacture chess computers under the Novag brand name.. - 10 Topics

Wolfgang Perner succeeded to his father and, in 1984, created PPG Perner Publishing Group, a Swiss branch of Peri. In February 1996, Peri went bankrupt. In 1996, Perner Produktions was founded by Wolfgang Perner. He kept the brand of Peri Spiele. In 2004, Perner Produktions went bankrupt. SAITEK (originally called SciSys-W until 1987) was a Hong-Kong based company, founded by Eric Winkler in 1978. Eric Winkler was a Swiss technologist who co-founded Novag. During more than 2 decades, Scisys, then Saitek, produced chess computers from Hong-Kong. From 1990, the company distributed its products through its offices in the United States, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. In 1994, Saitek acquired Hegener & Glaser. The brand name Mephisto was used for their products. At this period, Saitek diversified into PC peripherals (game controllers). On November 14, 2007, Mad Catz bought Saitek. The distribution was organized through the French system of Publishers (Jeux Nathan, becoming later Ravensburger after the selling of Jeux Nathan to Ravensburger). However, Many problems occured between Peter Auge (Novag) and Eric Winkler: they stopped their collaboration after few chess computer development. Tandy
TANDY CORPORATION was founded in 1919 by Norton Hinckley and Dave L. Tandy under the name "Hinckley-Tandy Leather Company". In 1950, the name was changed for Tandy Leathers. At the end of the 50s, Charles Tandy, decided to expand the activities to the hobby market. In 1955, Tandy Leathers was bought by the American Hide and Leather Company. In 1961 the company name was changed to Tandy Corporation . In 1962, they purchased Radio Shack. In 2000, the Tandy Corporation name was changed for the RADIOSHACK CORPORATION. VEB Kombinat Mikroelektronik Erfurt was an important manufacturer of active electronic components in East Germany. It was created in 1978. Their first chess computer, the SC1, was produced in few exemplars (probably less than a dozen) essentially with the goal to demonstrate their ability.
