Unusual Playmatic S... One of the first produced computers made in Germany. It was certainly a good solution for Fidelity as they wanted to compete on the German market: producing in Germany was lowering the prices of their computers.
The legends are printed on a transparent plastic glued on the right side of the board.
The Fidelity Brand Logo is not printed on the board.
By observing the Playmatic SN popping up on eBay and in collectors' websites,
it seems at least an early production or maybe a prototype. I didn't see a similar in the other collections or for sale on eBay.
The Fidelity Playmatic S is a beautiful wood chess computer made in Germany.
It is a "De Luxe" version of Fidelity Sensory 9 which was in plastic. However, it is a strong opponent, much more than the Super 9.
Its biggest difference with its plastic brother is the auto-sensory board with 64 LED and its faster processor.
Two versions were identified: with the computer on level 1, move 1.h4, then you get:
- black 1.e5 or 1.d5: version A
- black 1.b6: version B
