The Sensory 9 was a success for Fidelity: Ron Nelson was combining with efficacy the strength of the Spracklen program with his experience of the Elite Champion.
The SC9 was launched in the fall of 1982. At over 1700 (USCF) Elo, it was a good catch for the club players and all the chess aficionados.
As a consequence of this success and in conformity with the Fidelity tradition (to change without any announcement the technical specifications of their chess computers), Ron Nelson improved the performance of SC9, changing the Spracklen program from one version to another and increasing the microprocessor speed. After October 1983, the Sensory 9B included a Budapest program. Later, Fidelity sold a Sensory 9 with a 6502 at 3 Mhz.
This computer is unique by its very well designed wood case.
