Rochade... The Arcade/Casino Computer

Finally, I received the computer 3 weeks ago.
The travel was short. DHL expedited the computer by air. Three days after, I was going to San Francisco Airport to take it.
Approximately, 80 kilos... in a sarcophagus of wood... very well protected.
The computer was apparently in good shape: no damage during the shipping.

I tried immediately to test if it was working, but out of the lights of the table, the computer was not turning on. However, after some digging in the computer, I got it starting to work and I was able to position the chessmen. Trying to play was disappointing mainly because some reed switches/leds were not more working. However, it was nice to see the 3 displays functioning correctly.
Since three weeks, I am working to restore it. I have advanced a lot and I hope to post very soon the restoration progress and some photos.

Maurice

To see how the computer plays, the best would be to see it "de visu", ie, you come to see it in California... :)
Sure, we are all ready to help you to make your movie: LA and Hollywood are not far.
BTW, don't forget to take some DM (1, 2 or 5 DM).
This Arcade machine will take all your money... and maybe will win on the top of that.
Take care.

Maurice

The Rochade computer is now fully working.
It has some interesting additional features (3 lcd screens; chronometer on the 2 sides; help; levels etc...).
Time allowed for a game is based on the amount of money you put in it and eventually you may add more money to increase the allowed time and finish the game in process.
It is a Roma 68000, 12MHz... Module and EPROMs are from 1987 (February). The microprocessor Motorola is a 68000P10 when, in the regular module, the microprocessor is a Motorola 68000 P12, 12MHz and... Rochade has a money bin :)
The WCCC was held from 1987-09-14 to 1987-09-20, Rome, Italy. Mephisto was the winner of the 7th World Microcomputer Chess Championship (Manufacturers).
