Wow!! Very interesting. It seems to have been made specifically for use in Amusement arcades.

It has some parts similar to those used in Mephisto chess computers.

Best regards,
Gerardo (aka Berger)

Yes, but on the label, we can see: 1535/00011.
I never saw one like that. It must have been an attempt to put this computer in an arcade or a casino :)

I agree wit you, Gerardo: it seems a Mephisto module style Amsterdam or Dallas.
The other motherboards are intriguing: they seem related to some additional features.
This board must have been done with the agreement of Hegener and Glazer. The idea of a chess computer with a pay for service is interesting, but we can imagine the difficulty to implement it.

Hello Maurice,

I had contact with the seller and Hein has done an arcticle alreaday on this.
Yes, it is an arcade chess comuter. You put 1 or a few Deutsch Mark in it and therefore get an amount of time to Play against the machine.
Of course we don't know which program is inside, but the 3 Slots look similar to the Mephisto boards.
The seller said it doesn't work, don't accepts the coins.

Curious regards

Hello Peter,

I know... I saw the computer at the beginning of the auction and I bought it :)
I got some more information about the computer and its program, but I need to verify that.
As soon as I receive it, I will post what I find.
The seller told me about your call... He told me that you were suspecting another collector to be the buyer! :D

Hi Maurice,
think this was another one;) I had only contact via mail a month before the eBay listing.

I enlarged some of the photos. The black buttons are definitely from Mephisto and in the same way like Amsterdam/Dallas/Roma.
There is one ROM/Eprom with a date: "Schachuhr 22.2.87"
So it should be a DALLAS.
Nice grab Maurice.

Regards
Peter

You are probably right, Peter: it seems a Dallas.
I am very happy to have it coming very soon in my collection.
The mother board of the chess board with its three slots is definitely the same than the one of a Munchen /Exclusive.
The question remains about the program they used (if H&G allowed them to use a particular version) and about the technical specs in term of processor, memory and libraries.
It seems this computer was very close to a commercial use in an arcade or a casino, ready to take the money of the players (the money device is on the side of the table).
It remembers me the discovery of the Daimler/Mercedes-Benz boards> Daimler used the H&G technology to create the most spectacular board ever done in this era (they were using MMII/MMIII modules): http://chesseval.com/RareBoard/DaimlerBenzBoard.htm.
At the period, I was thinking it was only one ever produced, but in fact, Daimler-Benz produced 3 models in the manufacture site of Sindelfingen. Each one was different.

kr,

Maurice
