The 2 versions of the Virtuoso

SAITEK (originally called SciSys-W until 1987) was a Hong-Kong based company, founded by Eric Winkler in 1978. Eric Winkler was a Swiss technologist who co-founded Novag. During more than 2 decades, Scisys, then Saitek, produced chess computers from Hong-Kong. From 1990, the company distributed its products through its offices in the United States, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. In 1994, Saitek acquired Hegener & Glaser. The brand name Mephisto was used for their products. At this period, Saitek diversified into PC peripherals (game controllers). On November 14, 2007, Mad Catz bought Saitek. On September 15, 2016, Logitech purchased the Saitek brand and assets from Mad Catz.

The 2 versions of the Virtuoso

Following Veldhuis, I am asking if somebody knows the reason for which it exists 2 versions of the Virtuoso corresponding to 2 different model numbers?

I have the the 411 and the 412 models.
I believe that the 412 is rare.
Externally, they are different by the color of the board and by the lettering. However, these external differences are probably not enough to justify the change of model number.
I am intrigued...
